Dr. Lajeunesse is a paediatric allergist and immunologist with extensive experience managing food allergies, childhood asthma, eczema, and hay fever. Skin prick testing
Skin prick testing is our primary method of allergy testing. This non-invasive test is quick, safe, and provides same-day results. Drops of allergen solutions are placed on the skin, and a small lancet gently pricks the surface. For most people, it feels like being touched with a sharp pencil. Within 15 minutes, an itchy lump may appear at the site of a positive result, which is measured and interpreted by our specialist.
Skin prick tests can identify a wide range of allergens, including:
- Household and pet allergens
- Seasonal allergens (e.g., pollen)
- Food allergens (e.g., nuts, eggs, milk)
- Allergies associated with asthma or eczema
The Alex2 test
For more complex cases, we offer the Alex2 blood test, a cutting-edge multiplex allergy test that provides detailed information about over 250 allergens. This includes food and airborne allergens, as well as specific proteins within allergens that can indicate cross-reactivity or anaphylaxis risk. The test can be done via a standard blood draw or a simple finger-prick kit that you can complete at home.
Food challenges
If skin prick or blood tests indicate that an allergy may have been outgrown, we offer food challenges to confirm this in a controlled hospital environment. Over a few hours, small amounts of the suspected allergen are introduced under close supervision by a doctor and trained nurses. This safe process can help families reintroduce foods with complete confidence.
The weaning screen for infants
For infants starting solid foods, our specialised weaning screen can identify potential food allergies early, helping families introduce new foods safely while preventing unnecessary dietary restrictions.

When is allergy testing recommended?
During your consultation, we’ll discuss your symptoms and determine whether allergy testing is appropriate. We aim to provide clarity, not unnecessary tests, so we will only test you if your symptoms suggest you are suffering from an allergy!
How do I prepare for my allergy test?
Antihistamines can interfere with the results of allergy testing. Please stop taking antihistamine medications at least four days before your appointment, including:
- Cetirizine, Loratadine, Fexofenadine, Desloratadine, Levocetirizine, Mizolastine, Alimemazine, and similar antihistamines
- Certain cold remedies—check with your pharmacist if unsure

What happens after my tests?
You’ll receive a written report and tailored advice on how to manage your allergies, including ways to reduce exposure and control symptoms. With our expertise, you can take control of your allergies and live with greater confidence.
What types of allergy tests do you offer?
We offer skin prick testing for quick, same-day results and the Alex² blood test for more complex cases. For food allergies, we also provide controlled food challenge tests.
