who we are

Private Allergy Clinic

Dr. Lajeunesse is a paediatric allergist and immunologist with extensive experience managing food allergies, childhood asthma, eczema, and hay fever. Taking a holistic approach, he works to provide clear diagnoses and tailored treatment plans, helping families take charge of their child’s allergies. Dr. Lajeunesse understands the challenges families face, including the fear of severe allergic reactions, and offers expert guidance to help navigate these concerns with confidence.

We treat a range of allergic and immunological conditions

We offer a range of treatments for severe hay fever and airborne allergies, including grass and tree pollens house dust mite and animal danders. These are drops or tablets that dissolve under the tongue and gradually desensitise improving quality of life and reducing medical treatment.

Conditions we treat

We provide comprehensive care for a wide range of allergic and immunological conditions

Eczema

Eczema in children may be related to allergies, such as house dust mites or specific foods. For others, it may exist independently of allergies. We provide testing and practical advice to help manage symptoms, including environmental changes and tailored skincare strategies, to improve your child’s quality of life.

Food allergies

Food allergies can range from mild to severe and, in some cases, can lead to life-threatening anaphylaxis. Identifying what your child is allergic to is crucial for avoiding triggers and preventing future reactions. We provide testing and advice to ensure families understand the risks, treatment options, and how to confidently manage dietary restrictions.

Hay Fever

Hay fever can impact sleep, concentration, and general well-being, especially during exam season for teens. We offer desensitisation immunotherapy, a long-term solution to reduce symptoms by gradually increasing exposure to allergens like pollen. This treatment helps children regain normalcy in their daily lives.

Anaphylaxis

Anaphylaxis is a severe allergic reaction that requires immediate treatment, often with injectable adrenaline (EpiPens). Our clinic ensures that families not only receive prescriptions but also learn when and how to use EpiPens. We also focus on strategies to reduce the risk of reactions altogether, providing families with peace of mind.

Asthma

Asthma in children can range from persistent coughing to severe attacks. For young children, wheezing may not always indicate asthma, but our clinic can help navigate these concerns with lung function tests, inflammatory gas measurements, and tailored treatment plans. Managing asthma effectively is especially important for children with food allergies, as uncontrolled asthma can exacerbate allergic reactions.

Cow’s Milk Allergy (CMA)

Previously referred to as milk intolerance, there are a variety of Cow’s Milk Allergies that standard allergy tests may miss, such as non-IgE-mediated CMA. Symptoms can include reflux, eczema, and digestive distress, which often leave children unsettled and families exhausted. We specialise in supporting breastfeeding families and finding solutions that keep infants thriving without unnecessary dietary restrictions.

Desensitisation Immunotherapy

This specialised treatment is available for hay fever and certain food allergies, such as peanuts. By introducing tiny, controlled amounts of allergens, we train the immune system to tolerate them over time. For peanut allergies, this process can significantly reduce the risk of severe reactions, allowing children to lead safer, more relaxed lives.

Rare and Complex Allergies

We can detect rare conditions such as Food Protein-Induced Enterocolitis Syndrome (FPIES), which can cause delayed vomiting and severe reactions in infants. Accurate diagnosis and clear action plans are key to helping families manage these conditions and avoid unnecessary hospital visits.

Lactose Intolerance

Unlike milk allergy, lactose intolerance does not involve the immune system. It results from an inability to digest lactose, the sugar in milk, leading to digestive discomfort. We provide simple strategies and treatments to help children enjoy dairy without significant disruption to their lives.

Peanut Immunotherapy

Peanut allergy is one of the most common and potentially severe food allergies in children. Our clinic offers comprehensive care, from diagnosis to treatment options, including cutting-edge desensitisation immunotherapy. We have a great track record in making our patients “bite safe,” giving them greater control over their lives.

Allergy testing

We offer skin prick testing for same-day results for common food and airborne allergens. We are also able to offer the state-of-the-art ALEX 2 specific IgE multiplex chip. This gives an overview panel test for both airborne and food allergens. We can look below the surface at a molecular level for patterns of cross-reactivity and advise on the extent and severity of allergies.
